For oily skin, I want cleansing that feels thorough without becoming aggressive, targeted treatment when there is actual acne or congestion, and hydration in a texture that does not feel heavy.
First: Oily Skin Is Not Automatically Acne-Prone
Sebum and acne are related, but having oily skin does not mean every product needs to be an acne treatment. I build around the concern that is actually present.
Cleanse Without Chasing a Squeaky Finish
Remove makeup, sunscreen and excess oil, but do not keep washing simply because some oil returns later in the day. Sebum production is influenced by genetics, hormones and other factors.
Add Lightweight Hydration
Corthe Dermo Pure First Aid Toner is the toner I use when someone wants a light layer. If toner feels unnecessary, it is optional.
Moisturize According to Feel
Corthe Dermo Pure First Aid Lotion gives me a lighter moisturizer option. I recommend moisturizer for comfort and barrier support, not because skipping it automatically makes oil glands “compensate” by producing more sebum.
Treat Acne Separately When Needed
If blackheads, whiteheads or inflammatory acne are also present, add an appropriate acne treatment rather than expecting a toner or moisturizer to clear acne on its own.
Use Sunscreen
Finish the morning routine with a broad-spectrum sunscreen you will wear consistently.
