Korean Skincare Routine Order

Step by step, the layering order that changes how your skin looks

By Lindsey Rapp  ·  Licensed Esthetician  ·  5 Min Read

The right Korean skincare routine order can completely change how your skin looks and responds. When each step is layered correctly, your products absorb better, your skin barrier stays stronger, and your results are more consistent. Routine order is one of the first things I fix with clients, before we ever talk about swapping products.

The Basics

What Is the Correct Order?

The general order is: cleanser, essence or treatment serum, moisturizer, and SPF in the morning. At night, add exfoliation or a mask depending on what your skin needs that week.

Putting thinner products first and richer products last helps each step absorb properly.

The Routine

With Real Products

Dermathod Cleanser

Step One

Cleanse — the Dermathod Moist Morning Touch Foam Cleanser, my go-to when skin feels tight after washing.

NeoGenesis Beta Serum

Step Two

Treat — NeoGenesis Beta Glucan Barrier Recovery Serum, my post-treatment essential in the studio.

Dermathod Ami Sterol Cream

Step Three

Moisturize — Dermathod Ami Sterol Cream, the ceramide and cholesterol blend I look for as an esthetician.

Pfect-A Solar Elixir

Step Four

Protect — Pfect-A Solar Elixir Serum Sunscreen SPF 50+, years ahead of what's typically on US shelves.

Why It Matters

Why Does Order Matter?

Putting thinner products first and richer products last helps each step absorb properly. Layering out of order can block absorption before a product has the chance to work.

Extra Support

If Your Skin Is Dry, Dull, or Stressed

Add the Dermathod Revive Triple Action Sheet Mask a few times a week. It's the exact mask I use after treatments in my studio, and it's an easy way to bring hydration and comfort back into the skin between full routine days.

Frequently Asked

How long does it take to see results? Many people notice better hydration and glow quickly, while texture and breakouts usually take more consistency.

Do I need Korean products for the routine to work? No, but Korean skincare is especially known for barrier support and hydration layering, which is why it often performs so well.
