NAD+ and NMN are well known in longevity research, and that language has now moved into topical skincare. As both a registered dietitian and esthetician, I find the category interesting, but I separate the biology of these molecules from what has actually been demonstrated for a finished cosmetic serum.
What Are NAD+ and NMN?
NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular metabolism. NMN is one of the compounds the body can use in pathways that produce NAD+.
That basic biology does not prove that applying an NAD+ or NMN cosmetic to skin will reproduce findings from oral supplementation, laboratory research or other routes of administration.
What Do We Know About Topical Skincare?
Topical NAD+ and NMN are still newer skincare categories. The evidence for visible cosmetic benefits depends on the specific ingredient form, formulation, stability and finished product. I would not use the broader longevity literature as proof that a topical serum reverses skin aging or increases cellular energy in a clinically meaningful way.
Why the Category Still Interests Me
I like following the point where nutrition, longevity research and cosmetic formulation overlap. That makes NAD+ and NMN interesting ingredients to watch, but “research-adjacent” is not the same thing as clinically proven anti-aging skincare.
The Serum I Carry
Pfect-A NMN + NAD+ Serum is the product I carry in this category. I use it as an optional treatment serum within an established routine rather than as a replacement for sunscreen, moisturizer or better-established treatments.
How I Use It
Follow the product directions and use it in the serum step before moisturizer. In the morning, finish with broad-spectrum sunscreen. I would introduce it as one new product at a time so you can judge how your skin responds.
Who Might Be Interested?
This category makes the most sense to me for someone who already has the basics in place and enjoys exploring newer cosmetic technology. It is not where I would start for someone who still needs a consistent sunscreen, moisturizer or treatment for a specific concern.
What I Would Not Promise
I would not promise that topical NAD+ or NMN reverses aging, repairs DNA, restores youthful cellular energy or produces the same effects studied with supplements. Those claims go beyond what I think a cosmetic label alone can support.
